Last weekend, Roger was outside setting up our sprinkler to try to save our lawn from the drought. Mary Clare was in her PJs having breakfast and saw the sprinkler going back and forth. She grabbed her magic wand, ran outside, and did a great imitation of Cinderella's Fairy godmother. She pointed her pink plastic wand at the sprinkler and shouted, "Bippity Boppity Boo!" Roger was standing behind a bush and would turn it off and then on each time she shouted her magic spell. She couldn't quite tell if she was really doing it, but thought that maybe she was -- and thought that was pretty neat!

Here is Erin riding on our fire engine. She has started walking 2-3 (or more) steps at a time and is so very proud of herself. It seems as though she has turned into a toddler overnight. She is a major chatterbox -- Mama, Dada, Bye Bye, Hi, Ball, Bottle, Woo Woo (the fire engine), Lou (our cat), and lots of singing. She and Mary Clare love doing ring-around-the-rosie (although an adult has to hold one of Erin's hands to keep her from falling down!). They laugh and both fall down right on cue! Erin is alot like Mary Clare was at this age -- very happy and friendly. People always remark on her smile, and she will work the crowd in a restaurant or store until she has made eye contact with (and elicited a reaction) from every person in the room. She's also a major daredevil - she tries to climb into or onto everything she possibly can -- chairs, tables, her stroller, etc. I foresee stitches or broken bones at some point! Oh, and she is also completely weaned now. I had planned to do it when we get back from our next vacation -- but she surprised me and just decided to stop. That's exactly what Mary Clare did -- it's pretty rare for a baby to do that, and I can't believe both of ours did it.

Here is Lou hiding in some wrapping paper that Mary Clare pulled off of the cardboard roll. She used the roll as a "fog horn" and he seems to have used it as some kind of cave! In any case, they both had alot of fun so it was probably worth the $2.99 we wasted!

We've been up to our usual activities around here -- but today we took a spontaneous ride on the town's trolley. We brought Angie along to help and had a nice lunch. Here is Angie with the girls on the porch before we walked down the block to the trolley stop. You can see they both adore her. Next week, she will accompany the girls and I on a trip to North Carolina's Outerbanks. My mom, stepfather and sisters (and their families) will all be there for a week in a big rental house. Roger will join us later in the week -- we are all looking forward to some more time at the beach!
On Saturday we'll be having a party to celebrate Mary Clare's third birthday. She is beyond excited. Cinderella will be attending and we're hosting it a local indoor play area (called My Gym). She's even having trouble sleeping she's so excited - the other night at 10:45 pm she came downstairs to find Roger and I -- she said to us, "Do you think that Cinderella could go in the ball pit with me if she takes off her glass slippers?" How cute -- she will be wearing a full Cinderella costume (complete with her own glass slippers, gloves and a faux fur stole). She hasn't seen it yet, but will probably levetate off the ground when she does. More pictures of that, to come!
