Outer Banks 2012

We had another wonderful trip to the Outerbanks!  This is the house we rented.  It was nice and close to the beach which was a great location for the kids this year.
Cara organized a jeep ride to then northern part of our island to see the wild horses.  It was really bumpy (which the kids loved) and so interesting to see that part of the island.  In that area there are no roads and you need a permit to drive on the beach "after hours."  Despite being so remote and isolated there is a pizza place, park, and small community center.  There is a small but healthy population of wild horses.  It was amazing to see them in their natural environment and nice to see how protected they are.

One night we took the kids go-karting.  Our girls didn't want to go, but here is Haley making a breakaway!

But Eva and Mimi were right on her tail.

Haley - the oldest cousin - is a wonderful actress and she used some of her skills to do face-painting for the younger kids.  Doesn't Erin look great?

We all went out to dinner on our last night and had a great meal!
