Back to School

Our garden is really limping along as the drought continues in Tennessee - but the butterflies have been enjoying what remains in bloom!

It's been a busy week or so around here. Mary Clare is starting back to pre-school. Hopefully the transition will be an easy one - she has the same classroom and her teacher, Miss Denise, was one of her teachers last year. She will be in "pre-school" this year, which is more structured, and more like real school - one teacher per class and a more rigid schedule. But I think she'll do fine - in fact, I think she's going to thrive this year. She's been really interested in reading lately, and I am glad that she'll have another opportunity (in addition to my somewhat erratic attempts) to learn her letters and start putting words together.

Today we had fun at a birthday party -- you can see the girls especially enjoyed the swingset!

Erin and I will be starting a Mommy and Tot swimming class at our fitness club this week, too. I'm looking forward to it, because it will be the first one-on-one class that I will have taken with her. We're hoping to squeeze in a shopping trip tomorrow for a real bed for Mary Clare, and on Monday the Franklin Classic race will go by our house and we'll have some friends over to cheer on the runners. Enjoy the weekend everyone!
