Let there be light

Well, the structural engineer came this week and we determined that we needed to remove completely the ceiling in the kitchen and re-built the floor above (in Mary Clare's room.) This is what it looked like at the end of today. If you look closely you can see the new beam they have added between our kitchen "ceiling" and the "floor" of Mary Clare's room -- in fact, you can see the blue paint from her walls and her closet door up above. All of those floor joists will come out and be replaced with new ones, and we'll lay a new floor in her room.

We found another treasure trove in our walls -- it includes this magazine from the 1940s -- it's not as risque as it appears. It's more of a Saturday Evening Post kind of thing. In the back are a child's mitten, some papers, a ruler, and other odds and ends.

I just got on your site. Wow, it's a great way to keep up to speed.

Didn't you wonder why the floor sagged and creaked in Mary Clare's room? I guess this will take care of that problem! :)

We miss you all and I know you can't wait to move back in. Come visit us if you are bored. I have lots of familiar toys for the girls to play.
