Heading home . . .

On Saturday, we packed up and headed to Norfolk for the night. We stayed in the downtown area and our hotel let us check in at noon, which was great. From the hotel we walked to the harbor to see Nauticus -- an interactive museum about the ocean and shipping industry.

Part of the exhibits include the Battleship Wisconsin which is docked and available for tours. It was really interesting to see it because during WW2, Roger's dad was in the Army in the Phillippines and was brought back to the US (San Francisco) on a ship like this one - perhaps this one exactly! It was sooooo big.
It must have been incredible to cross the Pacific Ocean on that ship.

I think the girls enjoyed the kid-centered exhibits a little more than the ship though.

On Sunday morning we had time for a quick dip in the hotel pool before our flight home. The only bad part about our trip was coming home to an empty house. Dylan was not here to greet us and run around like a crazy person, and Lou was *still* at the vet's office getting treated for his urinary tract disease. Since then, he is now home - but not without daily trips to the vets for catheters and check-ups. I think tomorrow he may be able to stay home, and if so, it will be the first time in three weeks that he has not been at the vet's!
