Last night was Halloween in our neighborhood - as you may remember from past years, its really crazy! The kids started coming a little later this year, around 5 pm - I think because it wasn't a school night. We finally gave up around 9 pm. Our neighbor who keeps track gave out 5,000 treats - but she gives them to the parents as well -- and she is the epicenter of all the activity. Her garage is a walk-through haunted house shaped like a giant pumpkin, and she gives out little toys in addition to candy. We think we gave out candy to around 1,500 kids. A pretty busy night!

Mary Clare and Erin enjoyed giving out the candy to the little kids and to the princesses - but were scared of the monsters and other scarey costumes. After it got dark and many of the really scary costumes starting coming out, the girls stayed in the house and we would yell inside the door - "Here comes a princess!" -- then Mary Clare would come running out to greet the princess. In fact, she changed into her Sleeping Beauty dress and would curtsey for the little girls.
Here we are before the festivities began.
