After dinner on Wednesday night, I cut a pomegranate in half so Mary Clare could see the seeds. I really didn't expect her to be interested in eating it, but she spent a good half-hour picking the seeds out and eating them one-by-one!It was great to have her so focused on something because I needed the time to get some last minute preparations done for my Spring Street Outreach program on Thursday. It was our first event of the new year so I wanted to make sure things went well. I didn't have a babysitter so I brought both girls with me which was challenging. Plus, I needed to drive the church van in the morning to pick up our seniors. Thankfully two of my girlfriends volunteered to come watch the girls in the morning -- they brought their two toddlers and they all played in the church nursery while I drove the van. I realized how much progress Mary Clare has made on separating from me when she just walked off and said, "Bye bye Mommy!"
We had a great turnout for the seniors' Bingo game and it was nice to see some familiar faces. Mary Clare really enjoyed seeing everyong and helped me pick the Bingo pieces out of the game, and she "played" the piano while they ate their lunch. One of the seniors brought her 3-year old granddaughter and the two girls had a great time playing together.
That afternoon we hosted our playgroup. I put a large piece of craft paper down the front walkway and we put finger paints out for the kids. They had a great time as you can see from the photos. It was a gorgeous fall day and they had fun playing with Mary Clare's toys as well as the old horse-mounting block on the corner.

As you can see from the photos we've made very little progress on the fence. They have all the posts set in concrete, but nothing else . . . .
Erin continues to do well -- I bought her a little seat called a Bumbo and she loved being able to sit up all on her own!
