Happy Veteran's Day!

This year Veteran's Day lasted a little longer than usual. On Friday, Nov. 6th, Mary Clare was one of just two kindergartener's from her class selected to participate in a special Veteran's Day ceremony. The two kindergarteners and two fourth grader's demonstrated the proper way to fold the American flag. Unfortunately, right before this part of the program, a bird flew into a major substation so the program only had the emergency lights on for the pictures.

On Sunday, we invited General Moore and Mimo over for some drinks and appetizers to honor General's Moore's extraordinary service to this country in the Air Force. You can read more about him here -- http://www.atalink.org/hallfame/moore.html

Here are the girls hanging on the gate welcoming him as he came across the street.

And this is a portrait that Mary Clare drew of him - note the flag, haircut and the airplane.

Later the girls recited the pledge of allegience, did some dancing and taught General Moore all about s'mores - which he seemed to enjoy!
