Disney Heaven

We've had a good weekend, except that Roger has finally succumbed to the bug that has been going through the family. Despite that, we stayed busy -- On Friday, our kitchen designer came to the house and it has gotten me very excited about the prospect of a new kitchen. She is a mom (3 kids under 7) and had some great ideas about how to re-organize our kitchen to make it more functional. After she left, I decided to bite the bullet and convert Mary Clare's crib into a "toddler bed" -- essentially taking one side off so that she can climb in and out on her own. She really loved it and had fun "helping" me put it together. Surprisingly, she has not really been climbing out. She took her nap fine that afternoon, and went to bed without any fuss on Friday night. Saturday morning we went to the mall -- we were trying to wear Mary Clare out since it's too cold to play outside. Roger was in the mood to spoil her so we went to the Disney store. She was in heaven!! After buying some Winnie the Pooh PJs (matching sets for both girls), a cup with a built-in straw, and two sets of little dolls, we headed to the food court. Mary Clare ate a huge plate of pasta, veggies, 1/2 a slice of pizza, a cookie, and a container of milk. Shopping must make her hungry! Here's a picture of the two girls in their new PJs this morning. You can also see Mary Clare is holding a pink puppy dog -- a Valentine's Day gift from her Aunt Barbara (Roger's sister) and Uncle Tim. She loves "Dooby" as she has named him. In fact, this morning when I went into her room she told me that when she woke up Dooby had fallen out of her crib (er, Toddler Bed) and she got out and retrieved him.

So anyway, after we had lunch on Saturday, Mary Clare decided she wanted to see the "Princess Store" just "one more time." It was pretty cute -- she clearly knew she was trying to get away with something and she held up her little finger and said, "Just one more time, mommy???" So, of course we did, and this time she saw a castle that came with tiny dolls of each of the Disney princesses (the Little Mermaid, Cinderella, etc). So, of course, that had to come home with us, too.
Oh, and the potty training has somewhat stalled -- she has ZERO interest in sitting on the potty now and I practically have to force/beg her to -- so for now, we're trying to not pressure her. (I'll save the pressuring for later in the summer when I'm desperate for her to be out of diapers in time for her school to start.)
