Double Ear Infection

Poor baby Erin -- she was up all night last night. It was like having a newborn again. She could only sleep about 45 minutes at a clip, and most of that only while laying on my chest. Finally around 3 am I took her into bed with us for a few hours. I took her to the pediatrician this morning and found out she has an ear infection in each ear. So now she's on antibiotics and hopefully will feel better soon. Mary Clare did a great job "helping me" -- she seems to really enjoy our trips taking Erin to the doctor. She loves watching Dr. Townsend look in Erin's ears and mouth. Afterwards we dropped the prescription off at the drive-through window at our pharmacy. Yesterday I installed Erin's full-size carseat in the car and she fell asleep in it -- she looked very comfortable after being squeezed into her little baby bucket seat. I didn't want to wake her up so Mary Clare and I drove around for an hour while they filled the prescription. Mary Clare thought it was hilarious -- she kept talking about how they were "making baby's medicine."

Since Erin's big sick of the last few days, Mary Clare has missed some of her regular activities -- to make up for it, we built a tent in the living room and she has had a lot of fun. Yesterday she brought some stuffed animals into it and had a tea party with them.

The only big news tonight is that potty training is proceeding slowly but at least we have forward momentum! I'll spare you all the details, but Mary Clare is slowly catching on to the concept -- very slowly, though!
